Orchid Grove is a central base from which to explore the Bay of Islands.You can get away from the tourist crowds at our quiet retreat but you are also a short drive from all the wonderful attractions our area has to offer. From the stunning east coast beaches to the tourist town of Paihia and north to Mangonui ( for world famous fish and chips!) and Cape Reinga or the wonderful west coast and Hokianga. The Puketi Forest with wonderful short and day walks is just around the corner.It is very easy to day trip to all key attractions so ask our advice on where to go and what to do . Fullers Kerikeri Half Marathon – Run annually in November this is a great event that brings marathon runners and supporters from all over to experince everything that Kerikeri has to
offer. A wonderful street party is put on to thank all the supporters , participants and visitors. Orchid Grove offers a discunt for those coming to stay during the weekend. Book Early for next year

Suggested 3 Day Itinerary
Drive 20 mins from Orchid Grove to wonderful Pahia and board a yacht charter or catamaran for an exciting day on the water. Swim with the dolphins, lunch on a remote island and enjoy the wind in your hair. Get back to land around 3 pm just in time for an early dinner at any one of the great local restuarants and a short drive back to Orchid Grove where you can unwind in the relaxing spa pool with a glass of wine.
Take the drive north to Cape Reinga after a hearty Orchid Grove breakfast or if you want someone else to do the driving we will drop you off at the collection point for the 90 Mile Beach bus tour which departs at around 9am and returns around 3.30 pm. On this awesome day trip you can ride down the sand dunes, run or drive along the 90 mile beach and experience the beautiful picturesque Cape Reinga where Maori believe the souls of the departed leave Aotearoa. This the northern most tip of New Zealand and the views on a clear day are amazing. On your way back stop for the world famous Fish and Chips in Mangonui!
Drive 5 mins to the breathtaking Puketi Forest - an ancient Giant Kauri Virgin Rainforest that has several walks of varying distance and enjoy the tranquil natural beauty of this ancient area. After working up an appetite make the most of the local wine delights of Kerikeri by visiting the vineyards, there are 7 in close proximity to Orchid Grove and many serve light meals and lunch – Ake Ake is our favourite! Venture into Kerikeri and visit several of the art galleries and don’t miss the opportunity to see chocolate and other tasty treats being made in our very own Chocolate Factory - Makana. Sample the delights, take some home as gifts or send to friends across the world. No visit to Kerikeri is complete without a visit to the Stone Store where the History of the region is explained and daily events bring the times of past alive. Pop across the road to the Pear Tree for a scrumptious afternoon tea on the lawn overlooking the inlet before heading off on the remainder of your journey. We hope to see you back soon!
